Meet Our Doulas

Mary Cross

Mary Cross has been practicing as an Abortion Doula since 2022.

Mary's prior focus was as an Operating Room Nurse and then a Clinical Consultant for a medical

products manufacturer. Mary finds satisfaction in supporting others during their journeys on

whichever path they choose.

Lee-ann Dunton

Lee-ann Dunton (she/they) is a queer, radical immigrant who’s unapologetically pro-abortion. By trade she’s an IT nerd for a local newspaper, but her main love in life is harm reduction, whereby she aims to support all individuals no matter what their journey may be. While she has always been a vocal supporter of abortion rights & justice, she began her advocacy as a clinic escort in 2018 and then later became an abortion doula in 2022. What Lee-ann loves most about being a doula is the ability to hold space for people to laugh, to cry, to ask questions, to feel joy, and to feel pain. Abortion is a very personal experience, and they feel privileged to be included as a part of any and every single procedure.

Juanita Harris

Juanita is a full-spectrum doula offering compassionate, nonjudgmental support for people navigating abortion and pregnancy loss. With a trauma-informed approach and a deep commitment to reproductive justice, she provides emotional, informational, and logistical care before, during, and after the experience. Juanita believes everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered in their choices.

Danee Jones

Mother. Wife. Nurse. Abortion Doula.

Becoming an abortion nurse just months before Roe v. Wade was overturned was not what Danee had on her personal bingo card—but it changed everything. It deepened her commitment to showing up for people with compassion, clarity, and nonjudgment during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

As a trained abortion doula and nurse, with nearly 5 years of hands on experience, Danee offers support that’s rooted in both clinical care and radical empathy. Danee's work is guided by the belief that no one should have to navigate abortion, or any reproductive decision, alone.

Outside of doula work, Danee is passionate about reproductive justice, mutual aid, and building community care networks that prioritize dignity and autonomy. Danee is also a mother, a partner, and a person who finds joy in reading urban love stories, dancing to Beyoncé in her bedroom and spending her weekends at cheer competitions with her daughter.

Alongside our fearless founder Kischea, Danee helped lead several abortion doula trainings with over 100 participants. "Training new doulas feels like planting seeds for a more just and loving future." Danee is honored to be part of this movement and to share this work with all of you.

Brooke Kingston

Brooke was born and raised in Arizona and has been involved with advocacy in the reproductive space for over a decade, including at the federal level. Brooke has been a healthcare center patient escort since 2019 and was in the inaugural class of Arizona doulas in 2022. Brooke is passionate about this work as an aspect of social justice and strongly believes that everyone should have the ability to build their families when and how they choose with dignity, equity, and safety at the forefront. Brooke enjoys golfing and smoking meat with her husband and spending time with her dogs, niece, and nephews.

Jennifer Kirshner

As a trauma-informed counselor, Jennifer's work is grounded in creating safety, trust, and compassionate presence for individuals navigating vulnerable and often overwhelming experiences. Volunteering as an abortion doula allows Jennifer to extend this care into a space where emotional, physical, and psychological support is deeply needed. Jennifer draws upon her training in somatic modalities to help individuals stay connected to their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and feel seen and supported throughout the process. Jennifer believes that being present with someone during a vulnerable time can offer a powerful, healing connection—one that honors their autonomy, dignity, and emotional complexity. Her role is not to fix or direct, but to hold space with compassion, attunement, and respect for each person’s unique experience.

Jennifer is a member of EMDRIA (Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association), a Certified Counselor from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Arizona (LPC). Jennifer is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trained in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Polyvagal Theory (PVT) and Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP).

Jennifer is a native of Arizona, having lived in San Francisco for a brief stint.  Jennifer is married with two grown children, two rescue dogs and a desert tortoise.  In addition to being an abortion doula and clinic escort, Jennifer currently serves on the Governance Board of Jewish Family and Children Services; having been a volunteer and advocate with JFCS since her father introduced her to the organization over 30 years ago.

Sabrina Mesa

Sabrina's doula journey began in 2024. When Sabrina is not inside the healthcare center, she is outside assisting folks enter the center as a clinic escort. Training as an abortion doulas has been the greatest addition to her activism life. Being there for clients and being part of their abortion story is something Sabrina sees as a gift. "Abortion has such nasty stigma attached. Being part of a story that can help turn that around is a blessing." When Sabrina is not in activist mode you can find her at the dog park hanging out with her dog and the retirees. Sabrina loves to hear their stories and hear how the world has changed. Sabrina's dog is her best friend.

Hope you can join this special club of people with such a unique important gift.
